Job Description: Architectural Project Manager (APM)
Reports To: National Specification Manager
Location: Field Based - Scotland
Job Purpose:
To secure projects for our client who are a multi national facades systems house and its sub-contractor partners through specifications by cultivating key relationships with architects, façade consultants, quantity surveyors and main contractors and advising on products and their capabilities, and promoting the features and benefits of using the companys' products.
Key Tasks and Responsibilities:
Develop strong relationships with architects, façade consultants and main contractors within the area, with a view to having our clients products specified and approved, wherever possible.
Target selected specifying outlets in a designated area in order to expand the existing specifier base.
Obtain leads on potential business using external resources and working closely with the Lead Management team.
Provide technical support to architects/contractors and Partners in the design and bidding phase of projects with a view to promoting the companies solutions.
Keep architectural practices in area up to date on new developments and products
Maintain close communication with other APMs and BDMs to maximise potential to secure orders for our customers.
Keep the National Specification Manager advised on movements and submit monthly reports in a timely manner.
Complete the required number of personal meetings with specifiers and main contractors which are KPI defined and fully record those visits on CPS as close to the event as possible for continuity (usually within 24 hours).
To maintain up to date records of all projects and their status on CPS in a timely manner.
To follow up projects on completion.
Essential Skills:
Degree level calibre or equivalent in experience with technical background (e.g. civil engineering) with a natural ability to deal with technical issues.
Previous experience in dealing with architects in the target area in particular on matters relating to design and specification.
Previous experience with the design/construction of facades or building envelopes and familiarity with related structural issues.
Familiarity with the construction industry in general and the technical / commercial processes which are central features of all significant projects.
A proven track record of successful business development.
Well-developed inter-personal skills.
Patience and diplomacy to pursue long term objectives.
Self-motivated with the determination to achieve results and win against strong opposition.
Commercial awareness and judgement to assess priorities and deal with them effectively to achieve business goals.
An eye for detail and natural creativity.
Ability to plan and manage time efficiently to achieve optimum effectiveness.
Desirable Skills:
Proven successful track record within an aluminium systems house
In-depth knowledge of whole region and a real understanding of key practices in that region.
Supporting Information:
Right to work in the UK & Ireland
Lives within daily commuting distance of field area for role with ability to stay overnight as required
Full UK driving licence
Ability to travel to other offices if the need arises
