Position Overview:

We are seeking a dynamic and results-driven Field-Based Business Development Manager to join our clients growing team in the commercial energy sector. This role is responsible for driving new business and developing long-term partnerships with commercial clients. You will have a strong understanding of the energy market, exceptional sales skills, and a passion for helping businesses optimise their energy usage and costs.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Generation: Identify and prospect new commercial clients through field-based activities, including cold calling, networking, and attending industry events.
  • Client Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong, long-term relationships with key decision-makers at target companies. Serve as the primary point of contact for all business energy-related inquiries.
  • Sales Strategy: Develop and execute a territory-specific sales strategy, focusing on generating new business opportunities and expanding market presence.
  • Market Analysis: Stay updated on industry trends, regulatory changes, and competitive landscape to offer tailored energy solutions and value propositions.
  • Proposal Development: Create and present tailored energy solutions, including pricing models, contracts, and service offerings to meet the unique needs of each client.
  • Negotiation and Closing: Manage the entire sales cycle, from initial contact to contract negotiation and closure, ensuring profitability and alignment with business goals.
  • Account Management: After securing contracts, work closely with account management and customer service teams to ensure smooth onboarding and ongoing client satisfaction.
  • Reporting: Provide regular sales forecasts, pipeline updates, and performance reports to senior management.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing, product, and operations teams to ensure the successful delivery of services and client satisfaction.
  • Compliance and Risk Management: Ensure all sales activities comply with industry regulations and company policies.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proven track record of success in B2B sales within the energy or utilities sector.
  • Strong understanding of the commercial energy market, including renewable energy options, energy procurement, and regulatory frameworks.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage a territory with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated ability to close deals and meet or exceed sales targets.
  • Experience with CRM tools and sales reporting.
  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.

Qualifications:

  • Minimum of 1 years of experience in business development, sales, or account management in a relevant industry.
  • Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
