We are currently seeking a Head of Sales to join a well-established, family-run SME based in Stafford.   This hands-on role will play a fundamental part in developing future sales growth and providing vision, direction and leadership for the sales team. The ideal candidate will have deep experience of the entire sales process, excelling at lead generation, relationship building, and deal closing. We’re looking for an ambitious individual who has strong negotiating skills — someone with a successful track record who can inspire the same performance in others. The role demands a leader who has a sharp mind and an ability to coach, advise and motivate others while building and maintaining a high-performance team.

This position is predominantly a field-based role with an emphasis on UK travel, but will also require 1-2 days a week at the Head Office in Stafford

Responsibilities

  •  Create and execute in conjunction with the Marketing Manager a strategic sales plan that expands our customer base and achieves growth plans
  • Meet with potential clients and develop long-lasting professional relationships
  • Recruit further sales support / representatives / account managers through growth, set objectives, train and coach them, and monitor their performance
  • Identify knowledge gaps within the team and develop plans for filling them
  • Identify any underperformance within the team and develop a plan to address this
  • Ensure that company quotas are met by holding daily check-ins with sales team to set objectives and monitor progress
  • Manage the month-end and year-end close processes

Requirements

  • Extensive experience of Sales Management, with a hands on consultative approach
  • Ideal industry experience would come from Industrial/engineered products/machinery into regulated manufacturing environments
  • Proven record of success with designing and implementing sales strategy and processes
  • Exceptional at building strategic relationships
  • Strong negotiation skills, to generate new business leads and close sales.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organisational skills
  • Superb leadership, with ability to mentor/coach and lead from the front
  • Flexibility to travel nationally.
