About Us

At Living Optics, we build hyperspectral cameras. Our devices access information invisible to human eyes and conventional cameras, enabling discoveries ranging from plastics sorting to greenhouse gas detection and tumour detection.

Our unique approach to hyperspectral imaging combines patented optical methods, built-from-scratch neural networks, and a small dose of pure maths. We’re well on our way to radically democratise and miniaturise hyperspectral systems, which have long been confined to well-funded research labs.

We’ve been generously backed – most recently with a £20M Series A round, by Octopus Ventures, Oxford Sciences Enterprises, Foresight Williams (of Formula 1 fame), Oxford University, and Outsized Ventures.

The Role

As our customer base and sales pipeline in Europe continue to expand, we're broadening our team across key European locations. You will assume the crucial role of spearheading sales efforts, establishing the foundation for a transformative shift in hyperspectral imaging across the continent.

Your role in driving sales includes finding potential customers, assessing their needs, conducting product demonstrations, and working alongside our Field Applications Engineers to set up proof of concept trials, and finalizing deals. While you own the sharp end of customer prospecting and qualification, you will have the full and proactive support of our technical and marketing teams. We will all be cheering you on!

Responsibilities include:

  • Generating Sales Leads: The first part of the sales cycle! A significant part of your role will involve initiating activities to generate sales leads, ensuring there's always a steady stream of potential opportunities.
  • Qualifying Customers: You will interact with prospective and existing customers to understand their pain points and needs, determining how Living Optics' products can provide solutions.
  • Conducting Demonstrations: In collaboration with our technical team, you will conduct demonstrations to showcase our products to prospective customers, aiming to generate excitement and interest.
  • Closing Deals: Ensuring both our customer's needs are met, and the company achieves its sales targets.

Requirements

We understand that there's no such thing as a 'perfect candidate.' However, we hope that you can be described by some of the following qualities or skills:

  • A track record in sales. We understand selling is hard. Experience in promoting sensor or computer vision related products would be wonderful but not mandatory.
  • The talent of generating leads via whatever means possible. You’ll figure out how and where to find people, how to leverage CRM/BD tools, participate in events - to find the right customers.
  • A knack for finding customer pain points. We know our product is useful, but we will need your help in finding the right customers for it. This involves the ability to communicate complex ideas in a straightforward manner.
  • Self-starter in a high-growth environment. Having just launched our camera this year, we’re at the beginning of a journey filled with possibilities.  We want you to thrive in this environment.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary.
  • Accelerated commission for on targets earnings and above.
  • Equity of a super fun and promising start-up (we're pretty certain this is true).
  • The role is based out of our U.K. sites in Oxfordshire, but may require frequent travel to meet customers or to attend events. For out-of-town travel, we’ll pay for tickets, accommodation, conference registration, and other reasonable costs.

Interview process:

  • 3 stages. 1st screening with recruiter or technical team member, 2nd interview with senior sales/BD team member, and final co-founder/chairman interview.

Our benefits:

  • In addition to bank holidays, 25 days off.
  • Insurance: medical and dental, life assurance, and income protection.
  • Matched and increased pension contributions.
  • Employee referral bonuses.
