Our client, a Leading Brick Supplier in the UK has a fantastic opportunity for an Area Sales Manager for their South Central region covering Oxfordshire, Buckinghamshire, Milton Keynes, Hampshire, Berkshire, Surrey, West Sussex & East Sussex

Salary: Basic salary £40,000 with additional bonuses to increase earnings. Use of a company car is also included with further benefits to be discussed during interview.

Experience Required: 2 years of Area Sales / Business Development experience ideally in the Construction Sales industry. However, applicants who can demonstrate similar experience will also be considered.

Objectives:

Responsible for the sales of our brick products across a defined territory, the Sales & Project Manager must ensure that through the development of a comprehensive project pipeline, the sales targets assigned to their territory are achieved and exceeded.

The business expects those employed in the role will work to raise the profile of the company across a range of stakeholders within that territory. Engaging directly with Architectural Practices to influence specification of product, whilst building new (and developing existing), robust, mutually beneficial, trading relationships with Building Contractors and Developers.

Duties Include:

  • Sales of all company product ranges to meet agreed budgets through the successful specification of our product that lead to completed orders.
  • Project Tracking: Desktop research and extensive outbound telephone call levels in line with company guidelines (minimum 2 days a week, office based, time commitment on this source of pipeline development).
  • Successfully progress planning leads provided by the company for future target projects from architectural stage(s) through to contractor stage and subsequent successful order won. 100% ownership of own project pipeline.
  • Identification and follow-up of new sales opportunities through new contractors, developers, sub-contractors and clients
  • 2 days per week minimum field-based activity in face to face (and where appropriate video conference) meetings in both office environments and construction site settings to secure commitment, develop relationships, promote and secure orders for our brick cutting service and periodically resolve material complaint issues.
  • Field days require detailed planning to maximise customer interactions and value extracted from the days on the road.
  • CRM / Project tracking database management with detailed project notes.
  • Generating quotations for bricks to offer a broad choice of product in line with the aesthetic and material performance specifications.
  • Management of current orders to ensure they run effectively, timely and to the benefit of the client – Correct management of site schedules, ensure call offs and additional product orders placed.
  • Identification of architectural sales opportunities to be targeted to ensure growing work bank.
  • Communication with all relevant colleagues on a day-to-day basis.
  • Providing sales activity reports on a monthly basis.
  • Working closely with the Sales Director to make supply chain offers and to develop a greater understanding of the specification market.
  • Tracking Projects through to closure and reporting accurate won/lost information in a timely manner.
  • Occasionally will be required to staff trade show stands and deal with the public at these events

Key Skills:

  • The ability to sell clay facing bricks, arches / special shapes & recon stone based upon, appearance, design criteria, availability/supply and lastly price.
  • Capable of identifying projects with contractors and arranging introduction/brick options ahead of the factors, then back selling the lead via the factors to create value.
  • The ability to develop and deliver an area specific business plan.
  • A high level of self-motivation is essential. Resilience and determination, as well as excellent negotiation, communication and organisational skills as the role involves dialogue with a varied clientele.
  • Must be customer focused, enthusiastic, hungry for success and ambitious, with the ability to sell themselves.
  • An ability to prioritise their own workload and work independently whilst also being strategically managed as part of the Commercial team.
