THE COMPANY

An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced, high achieving commercial vehicle business leader to make a significant contribution to the growth and development of this long-standing and highly respected company. Our client is one of the UK’s foremost commercial vehicle distributors - a large, prestigious and highly successful subsidiary of a major Group - with an extensive multi-site network of sales, service and aftersales operations around the UK. Their business proposition is most compelling - an enviable reputation for the supply of premium brand products, great people, blue-chip customer base, excellent customer service and a real passion for further success. As part of a planned succession and with future growth on the agenda, an experienced and driven Managing Director is required to take this already excellent company to even greater levels of success.

THE ROLE

With full P&L accountability, your key responsibilities will be to:-

• Provide inspirational leadership to an experienced senior team across sales, service, parts, marketing and finance, steering departments to deliver and exceed budgets
• Deliver the company’s annual business plan and strategy, achieving all strategic, commercial, operational and financial growth objectives
• Initiate, implement and execute ambitious and realistic plans to continually improve the company’s market position
• Astute and prudent management of the company’s financial performance, investment and cost control protocols
• Develop and strengthen key stakeholder relationships with manufacturer partners to secure current representation and identify future opportunities
• Provide leadership framework and control to ensure Health and Safety standards are maintained and enhanced across multiple locations
• Lead and encourage on staff engagement, training, professional development and appraisal, driving a positive culture of excellence across the business
• Collaborate with the wider Group to implement guidelines, policies and process to improve overall business and Group performance

THE PERSON

We are looking for a first class, high integrity Managing Director – a dynamic business leader – with an outstanding pedigree in driving performance and profitable growth in a similar or associated sector to the client. Strategically and financially aware and with high level commercial and operational capability, you will be comfortable managing a large, multi-site business of this nature. You will have contributed significantly to influencing business performance, leading great teams, whilst ensuring revenue and margin objectives are achieved. A consummate professional, with superb relationship building, communication and presentation skills, you will be a real business driver, combining a shrewd commercial mind-set with excellent numerical and analytical awareness. In style you will be proactive, engaging, resilient and motivational, and with the credibility, drive and ambition to take this business to the next level.
