Our client is a leading supplier of industrial heating and valves to distributors and merchants in the UK who is looking for an Area Sales Manager to join their team to work a very well established patch in the midlands.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Be responsible for the effective performance of the sales & contribution budget for their area.
  • Maintain personal contact with customers to retain and expand ongoing business, with particular emphasis on developing core customers to their maximum potential.
  • Actively search for new customers and secure ongoing business from them.
  • Ensure that the Sales Director is kept informed and up to date of all relevant information regarding customers and competitors, both commercial and financial.
  • Ensure that the Company name and image is promoted in a positive and professional way and that the Company’s business is always carried out in an ethical manner.
  • Effectively represent key suppliers in the marketplace, as appropriate, ensuring that a reputation for quality, service and reliability is projected.
  • Prepare and agree with Sales Director, company sales and contribution budgets and discuss any marketing issues required to help support your efforts.
  • Research and identify new products and business opportunities within your area.

Requirements

The job holder must have substantial and relevant knowledge of the products and markets that the Company operates in. Technical understanding of valves and pipelines and their use and application is required along with the ability to advise customers in the selection and performance of the Company’s products and services.

Outstanding commercial acumen and the ability to maximise sales and profit margins is a must in this position. The job holder must be willing and able to spend time and effort in forging long term relationships with core customers, working unsociable hours, involving regular domestic travel and nights away from home.
