Tired of Hooky Street?

We’re all familiar with arguably the greatest sitcom of all time – Only Fools & Horses. Uncle Albert taking every opportunity to talk about his naval misdemeanours, Rodney’s dipstick behaviour and Del Boy’s insatiable appetite to, one day, become a ‘milyun’aire’.

His eye for a sale in anything and everything is laughable and admirable in equal measure; but don’t worry, we’re not looking for a Del Boy – there’s no requirement to sell random items to a non interested audience; so, there’ll be no exploding dolls or Peckham spring.

But what there will be is a wide and varied product offering, which is in demand from a broad and loyal customer base. And the potential for growth within the existing customer base is huge, not to mention the scope for new business development – which, for various reasons, has been largely untapped.

Your Purpose.

As an overall summary of your main purpose in this role, it is to provide leadership in the development and implementation of the sales strategy whilst coaching and developing your sales team of eight people, to further increase market share.

Your responsibilities.

You’re responsible for the direct sales process and internal sales needed to achieve nominated budget on revenue growth and margin expansion. This will involve preparing sales forecasts & budgets, monitoring sales volumes, revenues, costs against forecasts and, identifying problem areas – initiating countermeasures where needed.

You’ll be required to maintain and develop the current customer base, in particular the key accounts, by delivering a high-quality solution sell service, by introducing new ideas and products. You’ll also have to manage and improve the financial performance indicators and develop and implement local Go-To-Market plans.

Via weekly and monthly sales meetings, you’ll drive the results and manage day-to-day activities of a sales team by creating accountability on sales targets, ensuring appropriate market coverage, management of a healthy sales funnel and high conversion rates. Over time, you will plan for succession within the current UK sales organisation and build a team for growth and success.

Another essential part will be your ability to work and collaborate with local and Group Operations teams, to achieve sales orders and ensure on time delivery.

Your Background.

You’re an experienced Sales Manager, from within a business that’s aligned to either production, manufacturing, or engineering. In terms of specific industry, we’re open – it’s one of the aforementioned areas that’s most important.

You’ve got a track record in developing high performing teams; that’s a phrase that gets used a lot, but we’ll want to know about your approach and how you’ve achieved this – including all the learnings from things that you’ve done that maybe haven’t gone so well too.

Which leads us nicely into the fact that you’re vulnerable enough and have the humility to be able to reflect and understand yourself. See, we believe in servant leadership, like you do – you recognise your role is to lead and serve your team to enable you to get the best out of them.

You’ll also take pride in leading from the front and setting the example for what good looks like within a leading sales function.

The Business.

Boasts longevity, currently sits as number one compared to their competitors (only just, so don’t worry, there’s still lots of challenge here), produces a versatile product range which is applicable to a wide range of industry sectors. They’re stable, profitable and waiting for you to speak with them.

And finally, here comes the ‘milyun’aire’ dollar question…

Why should you consider leaving what you’re currently doing, to explore this opportunity?

Well, without a conversation, that’s almost an impossible question to answer – because we know nothing about you at this point and nor do we know what’s important to you. However, that’s something we’d really like to get into with you.

So, what do we know?
  • There is genuine scope for progression into a group role – so the potential for your next move exists here.
  • The opportunity to shape and grow your own team is there – giving you the autonomy to create the environment.
  • The product portfolio is vast, multi purpose and is used across a number of stable, industry sectors – as a Sales Manager reading this, there’s no expansion needed on this point I’m sure…
  • The business has been in existence for over 100 years’ – so it’s not going anywhere soon.
So, although we don’t know you, our experience tells us that these factors are important considerations when exploring a career move.

Next Steps.

If this sounds of interest send through a copy of your CV; if you don’t have one, that’s ok, we can help you with that too. Or just drop me an email so we can arrange to talk further.

Go on, you know it makes sense…
