🙌 Your Mission

Rafiki is a cross-border payments API that allows you to make international payments into the African continent leveraging NALA’s fast, reliable and cost-effective payment rails. Your mission will be to prepare, pitch and close B2B clients for Rafiki. As our first hire in Rafiki, we will be looking to you for Sales execution but also managing our CRM, preparing decks, pitching and closing and also working closely with the Rafiki Product Manager and our CEO to build this role into its own department one day. 🎯 Your Responsibilities in this Role
  • Take ownership of our B2B sales strategy, leveraging your experitise to position the Rafiki product as a go to solution for payments into the African continent. You will be an expert generalist that can handle everything from Lead Generation, CRM Management all the way to negotiation and closing.
  • Prospect potential clients and qualify leads in a data driven way to iterate effective strategies for engaging clients
  • Build strong relationships with clients, understanding their needs and pain points, building your knowledge and expertise in our product space. This will form the basis of a playbook that you will grow the rest of the Sales team with.
  • Be an expert in the Rafiki Product, and being able to demonstrate its capabilities effectively to prospective clients. Your presentation skills are used not just to convey features and capabilities but also to tell our story and further develop the relationship
  • Negotiate on Rafiki’s behalf, ensuring contracts we sign and commercially advantageous and contractual risks are understood and where possible mitigated. You will work closely with Finance to understand the contract profitability and know the limits of what we can and cannot offer
  • Be responsible for tracking and reporting. We selflessly report on team KPIs at NALA and Sales is no different. What isn’t measured isn’t improved!
  • Maintain strong ties with the Rafiki Product team to ensure that client concerns are fed back to the team and demonstrating to clients that ability to constantly evolve and improve our offering
  • Work closely with compliance to ensure that what we sell and commit to is aligned to the various external regulatory requirements and internal policies
  • Act as a steward of the company - bring honesty and integrity to every working day

Requirements

🔥 Must Have Requirements
  • 7+ years in B2B Sales, ideally from Banking-as-a-Service, Payments-as-a-Service or a Software-as-a-Service businesses. 3 of these years should be spent in leadership positions where you have actively defined and refined Sales Strategy
  • You have a deep understanding of how international payments work and are familiar with the Fintech ecosystem.
  • You are comfortable connecting to and selling to all levels of an organisation including CEOs and Founders
  • Proven track record of B2B sales - as part of our interview process we will be really interested in your biggest sales challenges and how you overcame them!
  • Comfortable working across a diverse range of industries and geographies. You will need to be a quick learner for industry-specific nuances and cultural differences as you interact with a diverse range of clients.
  • Proficiency in using CRM systems (i.e. HubSpot/Salesforce) and are comfortable generating data and providing insights to the leadership team
  • Flexibility for regular international travel
  • You have previous experience as a founder or have been an early employee at a B2B startup (i.e. first 10 employees).

  • You have a good understanding of how payments work across Africa
  • In addition to English, you can also speak French and/or Swahili
