Sales Executive, IM Direct (£27,000 plus commission)

About the role

As a Sales Executive, you will be responsible for generating revenue into the IM Direct section across a broad range of advertising categories and titles. Our strong presence in food, entertainment, motoring, gardening and culture means we are uniquely placed to help clients reach potential new customers and ultimately grow their business.

We take a consultative approach to understand each client’s needs, challenges and market, and we create opportunities that we know will work for them. You will need to nurture existing relationships and develop new ones. You will be expected to generate maximum possible revenue and work to deadlines.

As a Sales Executive, you will;

  • Play an active role in achieving sales targets, developing new business, growing existing business and increasing market share
  • Maintain and service existing classified advertisers to maximise revenue
  • Canvass new advertisers from a range of sources, including competitive magazines and exhibitions and online/social media to increase revenue into our brands
  • Service your agencies and develop key relationships via phone, email and sometimes face to face meetings
  • Maximise the number of calls and ensure that the optimum percentage of time is spent on the phone to new and existing clients, to maximise selling opportunities
  • Achieve or exceed all revenue targets
  • Be aware of client’s circumstances, business and market trends, magazine changes and budgets, to remain informed and maintain a high level of professionalism
  • Initiate ideas to help build the classified sections
  • Sell digital advertising and other digital channels
  • Report all sales activities on Salesforce
  • Attend the weekly meeting and prepare figures for review
  • Liaise with the production department on ad copy on a regular basis
  • Ensure pages are filled to deadline
  • Monitor and analyse competitive media for business leads
  • Take an active interest in the relevant industry, and to make every effort to stay up to date with all industry developments
