Bid Writer

Location: Enfield, London

Reporting to: Bid Manager

Hours of work: Monday to Friday 45 hours per week

Due to continuous growth, we are on the look out for an experienced Bid Writer with a background in Utilities or Construction. Our ideal candidate will have a minimum of five years' experience as a bid writer and will be able to demonstrate content for successful bids ranging in value from £5m to £20m. 

ROLE PURPOSE

As a Bid Writer, you will work under the supervision of a Bid Manager and will assist them in developing a proposal structure.  The role also requires reviewing and editing previously written content where necessary, working with other bid team members to produce written bid responses and presentation collateral in line with deadlines. The role will involve writing content for use in the bid, and also presentations and all supporting documentation, ensuring a cohesive and consistent approach.

  • Proven ability to write effective, concise and compelling content
  • Technical writing skills, displaying creative flair in submissions
  • Excellent attention to detail and meticulous planning and organizational skills
  • Ability to obtain accurate, high-quality information from all bid stakeholders in order to produce bid collateral
  • Able to work to tight deadlines in high pressured situations associated with deadlines
  • Excellent communicator with a strong command of spoken and written English
  • Good communication skills (verbal and written) and able to engage with all stakeholders at all levels
  • Team player with ability to help give team members the necessary skills and confidence to write and produce materials themselves
  • Self-motivated. Capable of working under minimal supervision and on own initiative.
  • Flexible approach to working hours
  • Good IT skills
  • A high attention to detail with an excellent editing and proofing ability

Experience Required

  • Excellent literacy skills, with an extensive vocabulary
  • Deadline driven with effective time management skills
  • Thrive in a busy environment
  • Ability to multitask and prioritise workload
  • Experience in the required business sector
  • Proven bid team involvement
  • Can demonstrate effective bid writing skills
  • Good knowledge in Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and database software.

Essential Qualifications

  • Educated to degree level in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent qualification. Candidates without this level of education may be considered if they can demonstrate suitable work experience.
